This is a very tough question to answer since the answer is different depending on what in the car you're talking about (airbags, lights etc.). In general the different standards represent different scales of quality and safety. Each standard puts an emphasis on different things and that's something to keep in mind.
The search for people who can answer your question continues for as long as needed - until you find the answer you were looking for.
