Does Alexa give representative results? It seems easy to fake high traffic levels, but I suppose no one would fake low traffic so it has some value?
Alexa itself admits that its rankings aren't reliable at low traffic levels. But at higher traffic levels, I believe it's reasonably accurate, even if some websites game the system (and even if the definition of "website" is somewhat problematic, as Alexa also admits).
alexa i guess is not a bad web info provider.. and yes, it claims to have inaccurate data for low traffic sites..but for high ranking ones, it gives the right info..

Alexa is one of the oldest and best places to rely for traffic rankings. You can obviously manipulate rankings by installing alexa on your and your friends computers and requesting them to repeatedly visit your site - BUT !! Alexa has improves a lot and under regular surfing it is fairly reliable. It is all about sampling a portion of web traffic they rely upon. Till sites like Google and Yahoo who have toolbars on almost every other computer, Alexa is our best option !!
