Sic... I finally got the favicon link. Now, it doesn't work as a true solution to the question, but I was hung up (for some reason without 'www' specified the linking-icon tags mentioned before me here don't work, even from wikipedia, even from wiki-source).

But, this works on my XP sys with Explorer Favorites (keeps icon) and shows on tabs and in address bar for FF 2.0.0.9, so here is the best info I've found (after trying all other suggestions so far, but not tested on mac): http://www.w3.org/2005/10/howto-favicon
