I have a friend that was suppose to move in with me. She watched my house while I was on vacation and brought her furniture over and it is stored in my garage. I have not seen her or did she notifiy me she was not moving in or if she could store her stuff her. It has been 3 weeks since she left her stuff. She contacted me 2wks ago and said she was coming to get and I said ok I have not seen her still 3 nights ago she asked when she could come get it and I told her anytime I am home and again have not heard from her. So my question is how long do I store her stuff before it becomes abondoned property in the state of fl and what things do I need to know about this law?

40 thumbs up

you have continued contact with the person and as of yet, not made it clear you would like her things removed. you must tell her to remove the items and if possible work out a convenient date for you both. otherwise set a date and let her know that after that date her things will be essentially thrown out or auctioned or given away. not familiar with flor. laws but usually if someone has abandoned, or left an item for a month, it is just that, abandoned.
