Legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent dies at 71.

In his own words, Saint Laurent said he felt "fashion was not only supposed to make women beautiful, but to reassure them, to give them confidence, to allow them to come to terms with themselves." As the head of the Christian Dior house of fashion, he had the means to become this influential.

There is an old saying, "clothes make the man". I would guess it applies to women, too. Of course you can't just be an empty suit, but what people wear can have a psychological effect on the wearer and the people who interact with them.

hey, just look at what 'that dress' did for liz hurley. marlene deitrich in a man's suit - and its still going strong.
