Yeddai petition to end harassment

YEDDAI PETITION TO END HARASSMENT We, the undersigned Yeddai, hereby publicly petition Yedda.com to allow us to protect ourselves from cyber-stalking and public harassment. We insist that certain changes be made to the site: 1) People posting questions will have the ability to delete all responses at their discretion. 2) People answering questions will have the ability to delete any replies directed at them at their discretion. 3) The thumbs ranking system will be overhauled in one or more of several ways: a) Only the person asking the question can apply thumbs up or down. b) All thumbs down must be accompanied by a reason posted to the moderator. c) Abolishment of the thumbs rating system altogether. If no progress is made in meeting our demands by March 15, 2009, we will cease contact with the site. Signers, please keep your remarks brief. Discussion is open on this petition at this blog: http://yedda.com/questions/Anti-harassment_petition_discussion_6279918761790/

Love is the battery of life....

ProfitBob my friend, ------- I am in complete agreemant with you. However I am not sure it will help. To destroy something is always easier than to build (that's a law in Thermodynamics). They who want to destroy will find original ways to do it. By the way, right now, there is a massive attack on my "thumbs up" account.... within the last hour I received 20 thumbs down..... Untill you'll read my notes, it will go down more..... -------- Best personal regards,

Be Blessed.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

Profitbob, I hope you decide to stay and fight. I see he has wiped out all of your thumbs that you have accumulated during the time that you have been on Yedda. That is as low as a person can go. They can wipe out our thumbs but they cannot block out our voices and our freedom of speech. As I previously said, we value your opinions...........Be Blessed

I like your ideas for fixing the thumb system, profitbob, especially the idea of giving the right to rate answers to the questioner only. I'm not promising to ditch Yedda, though, if no changes are made (sorry.) In the meantime, I'll try to undo others' damage by give thumbs up to reasonable and sincere people who I know are being targeted (even if I might disagree with some of their viewpoints.) I can't imagine giving anyone thumbs down unless their comments are hateful to other posters, or actually dangerous to the Questioner.

Thank you all for posting so quickly. Hopefully in the days to come more Yeddai will post along with us. This is my only idea for saving Yedda, so if this doesn't work, I am willing to give up on Yedda. There is no reason in my mind to be punished for helping share knowledge, and I will not watch my fellow Yeddai be persecuted by censors. The corporate powers-that-be have to restore dignity and fairness to the site, or it is a failure and time for me to leave. It is sad to have to write these things, but other people have already moved on, and I guess I can too.

P.S. I notice that already everyone that has posted to this has earned two thumbs down for signing on. I gave you all two thumbs up because you all answered my question and deserve praise for that, not condemnation. But our point is obvious, the machine is broken, and it is either time to fix it or scrap it.

Profitbob, I am in complete agreement with you. A poster should be able to respond to a thread without being attacked personally and chased all around Yedda by someone who is upset because they don't like the person's religion or their political views. We should be able to carry on a dialogue or a debate without the name calling and the insults. There should be a way that we should be able to send the insult, profanity and vulgar comments posted by a responder straight to the Yedda management team, when such incidents occur.

To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.

I agree with what fifthbeatle said. The thumbs are the least important reason why I am on Yedda. I joined Yedda to share knowledge, learn, and to be part of a social network. It's too bad that a few people are trying to ruin Yedda, but I feel that are many more people that make Yedda an interesting place to discuss ideas from all different viewpoints in a civilized manner.

Yedda is pretty much a completely unregulated site. This has benefits and drawbacks. Many discussion boards have moderators that will delete posts that are off topic and suspend or terminate accounts of people who make their posts about personal attacks on others.

Offenders like Rockmike3 and Sundog would have lost their accounts a long time ago.

The advantage to letting people like Rockmike3 and Sundog participate is they themselves are the best argument against their often overly distorted, dramatized and personalized messages.

It makes it easier for moderates to both defeat some of their assertations as well as gain support for moderate and temperate ideas and solutions to some of the problems confronting the world.

The world has been in a near constant state of warfare for the better part of a 100 years now and there is a big push to increase the war on terror to include other Middle Eastern and Muslim Nations.

The economy is in shambles and the corruption and ineptitude in Washington has reached epedimic proportions.

Draconian measures have been issued in violation of the constitution via the Homeland Security Acts, Patriot Acts, and FISA Acts that intrude into and attempt to regulate far too many liberties already.

The last wild frontier where everyone from Rockmike3 to Profitbob can be heard around the world and help get irrational or cooler heads to prevail is here on the internet.

Israel's vaunted and legendary propoganda machine was recently defeated in it's recent effort to spin the war in Gaza as something just and proportianate.

Thousands of innocent people are alive today who would not be had their propoganda worked and they could have kept prosecuting that war.

It was internet bloggers on places like Yedda that allow almost any oppinion to be posted that made that possible.

The internet is the great equalizer, the bane of the New World Order and a tool to expose minds to ideas and facts non commonly put forth by main stream media or education.

I am against censoring the internet. I lost thousands of thumbs taking on the Zionist disinformation agents. Well worth even one life saved because the message came across loud and clear across the internet.

The majority want peace, and reconciliation and understanding. The majority want an honest and sound government and currency. The majority is not being heard or represented in Washington but it is here on the internet, where so far no dissent or oppinion is being censored.

Censorship sucks. Regulation sucks. Ideas rock. Words rock. The only way for people to agree that any idea could be the best or worst idea is to be able to hear it.

The only place you are going to hear all ideas good and bad is here on the internet.

We are in World War III and it is widening and where it is being fought more than any place is here on the Internet.

Any move to censor the internet is a move to aide the powers that be from silencing and having to recognize and serve the majority.

The internet rocks. So do you Profit Bob. I believe it was last Sunday that sundog lost all his thumbs in the course of a few hours. I posted one comment in regards to his complaint. To loose a couple thousand thumbs in a couple hours it had to have been more than one.

Morethan1 rocks!

Keep giving them heck Profit Bob you are awesome. You are a profit, I have read your posts. You are leaps and bounds ahead brother and this is the place for profits like you to spread your message.

Thanks Profit Bob! People like you give me faith that this crazy rock is going to make it.

To be honest, I enjoy seeing a few thumbs up in my box. Who can disagree. But nobody comes to Yedda because of the cool thumbs ranking system. At first, they come here to field a question or a thought. Only after becoming familiar with the game do they realize what this "thumb thing" is and how it works. Before you know it, thumb lust sets in. "And if your thumb causes you to stumble, pluck it off and throw it from you..."

I vote for option C. Period. The other delete options offer too much control based on opinion. I see an unending feud when everyone has the power to delete. You can still give approval with a short post to that person.
