Yedda censorship

AP, I am sorry for your troubles. But personally, I think the system of 'rating' each other should be history.

I think that instead of 'thumbs' or 'Helpful/Not Helpful' it would be better to have an option somewhere along the line of 'I agree with or disagree with' this answer.

I do agree with you, it is nice to be recognized as giving good advice to others and it is a good feeling to know you have helped someone, but isn't the real proof of that in the thanks you receive?

(I'm not totally selfless. I freely admit to enjoying the feeling I get when I get a thumb up as well as to a feeling of dismay at a 'Not Helpful.')

And now that Yedda has instituted the 'Compliments' feature, you can even receive thanks that way. And that's a lot more meaningful than another notch in the proverbial (thumb) belt, I think.

In my opinion, Yedda ought to show the total number of answers we've given as well as 'Member Since: (date)' and 'Active/Inactive' instead of showing our 'Helpful Answers' total.

After all, it is not how someone ranks us that marks us as helpful.

It is in the questions we choose to answer as well as what we say in our replies - and that is not something which can be quantified.

i know you don't care for thumbs up system,  lol but i just had to give you one.  awesome answer.....your right about given it because if some that really cared about your answer gives you a helpful, someone that don't care for you regardless of how good your answer was and others give a helpful,  all the person has to do is make a comment and click not helpful and it takes away your helpful  but added to that   they have their close friends from yedda do the same thing  so your are down 4 thumbs.  does that make sence ?  i like the new compliment in our profile cause its nice to read nice things said and no one can take that from you.  when someone says something nasty to you and yedda sends it too you as a compement, does not make sence either,  but i got one.  i sent it back to yedda but have not heard anything from them .  i call what you, dblady and i have is  SPUNKY !   we give a good answer sometimes with a little sassy when needed.

It's not that I don't care for it so much as it is the fact that I think it ultimately does more harm than good.

The current thumb system is better than the one that was in place when I joined Yedda, but it still leaves much to be desired.

I find that people who should get thumbs often don't, while answers which are nasty, snarky or just plain inane can wind up being rated 'Best Answer.'

Additionally, Yedda's decision to add 'Helpful/Not Helpful' options has made it easier for warring factions to attack those members whom they dislike, resulting in a barrage of insults being hurled back and forth among the thread like so much trash in the wind.

Where is the 'Helpful' in that? How does encouraging and allowing nasty treatment of one another further Yedda's mission?

I too had my helpful answers taken away when they changed over the system.  It doesn't really matter to me.  But, I did find it unfair to all involved.

This is really crazy.I thought yedda didn't censor .I guess it's time for the EXIT.

    American Patriot has been used and abused by this forum, I pay Time Warner though the nose to have AOL if Neta would like I will send a copy of my bill, and I do beleive that AOL, Time Warner, are all Disney. Neta have you ever heard of the Stillmans formerly of Great Neck, then North Shore Towers, no longer have the penthouse, but Gramps was a life time CEO, old guys gone by now, but rolling in his grave, he was my nephews granddad on the mom side by marriage, no not a Stillman, but you do know how families are!!! NOW back to A. P., she has done no wrong, and I can't give her helpful answers as they are called now, this is the worst thing that could have happened to Yedda, this "NEW FORMAT", no one even over sees what has gone on. People have told me that the can NOT give me a point and I have tried to give others and it will NOT, at times it takes one away............WHY??? And why do I wait for a profile to be fixed, told that to go to setting, lol, that is what is broken, and you take NUMBERS AWAY FROM ONE THAT HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG, have you looked at all the people that have left, and, you have non paying, this is just to much, if I keep going, Yedda find the real ones to censor, A. P. is not one of them, neither am I, but I am in trouble with family..LOL
