The French revolution had a few stages, and most historians agree upon the years 1789-1798.
The last recorded activity of the royalists was in October 5th, 1795, when the Royalists revolt was put down by Napoleon. Some historians believe this indicates the end of the revolution

When Napoleon came to power in 1799 he declared the end of the revolution. to make things even more complicated, some historians claim that the return of the monarchy in 1815 is the real end of the revolution.
