I wouldn't wanna be in a club that wouldn't let me in...

I love to buy gifts that involve pictures... like things on ofoto.com.  You can make just about anything and put a picture on it of the you and whoever the person is that you are giving the gift to.  The person will have this forever, and will appreciate it for much longer than a year.

Some where in Arkansas.

Victims of circumstance owe it to fate. Victims of choice owe it to themselves.

I was going to say bricks, but Siba has given you a much better answer. Books are good, like those big glossy coffee table things.

Is this for your new boyfriend or someone else?

Gifts that keep giving all year round: one year of a favorite magazine in my experience National Geographic for kids has been a huge hit. Gift of a manicure a month. Cheese of the month, tea, coffee, chocolate, book etc. A concert series. You can also bake a new batch of cookies, muffins etc

Your dad probably already has a collection of polyester neckties and bottles of musk from past Christmas celebrations, and he may really want something different for Christmas this year. One great Christmas present for your dad is a painting you made yourself. You don’t have to be a Picasso or a Rembrandt to make paintings of scenery and images your father may like.

The ultimate game card would be a perfect Christmas gift in that case.  It gives access to 200+ online games and worlds and is available in 20,000 U.S. & Canada retail locations..

"Most people see things as they are, and ask, 'why'? But I think of things that never were, and ask, 'why not'?" -- George Bernard Shaw.

A one-year, (or more years'!) subscription to the recipient's favourite magazine! Or -- a Calendar with beautiful pictures! Or, an ENTERTAINMENT '09 book for their favourite city (or cities). Or, you could pay the bill's for the recipient's computer ISP for a year! Or, you could give them, say, a $20 gift certificate to Amazon.com each month for a year. If you have the money, a year, (or more) subscription to things like cheese-of- the-month club, or a year's subscription to their favourite opera company or theatre, or ballet company's shows, would be nice, too!
