Xp cannot find hard drive on laptop re install?

I just bought a Compaq 6105NR laptop with a SATA hard drive.

The computer came with a massive amount of BLOATWARE and I want to do a reinstall of XP Media Center 2005 "OEM Version" with an un used key and install only the stuff I want.

I have all of the drivers ect. but when I use my windows disk to format/install it does not detect the hard drive, does windows need a special driver to detect the SATA drive?

I know that the option for pressing F6 to install RAID drivers appears if you need to install, but I can install windows without a special driver on my PC tower no problem, is the drive locked? hidden? I tried to use a partition manager to  format but it could not find the drive either any help?

Perhaps accessing the BIOS setup, to check the drive parameters and related options, might be helpful.

Go into the BIOS setup and disable SATA option and your problem will be gone.
