Writing a will

I know someone who wants to make a will.  She doesn't want to spend a lot of money on a lawyer.  But she does want a legally correct document.  What do you think she should do?

Hi

searching the web, you can find numerous websites which contain will-templates (links: 1 2 3). these may help your friend putting together a will. it is, however, recommended to check out the specific legislations in your state. you may find this information in your local ".gov" website.

good luck

I noticed you are from Rhode Island and if I assume correctly that your friend is also living in Rhode Island,

here is a great website that breaks down into steps how to make a good living will (and costs very little, only $69). If your friend is from another state, let me know and I will see if I can find either a free or low cost website that follows that particular state's guidelines and requirements in making a living will.

She's from Rhode Island.  She's thinking of moving to another state someday.  I guess that could make a difference ....

But let's say she stays in RI and wants to use this option.  Is LegalZoom reputable?  Have you tried it?

In answer to your question, yes, I have used LegalZoom.com to make my own living will (but according to the laws of Connecticut as that is where I am living). I have only had good experiences with this company and would definitely recommend it to your friend. Should she choose to move to another state later, I would think it is very simple updating that same living will according to the laws of the new state she'd be residing in by using LegalZoom again. I hope this was helpful!

Go to this website that has about every legal form template you will need for a Last Will and Testment, Living Will or a Power of Attorney.  They have others as well.  http://www.uslegalforms.com/?auslf=consultjournal

Don't forget to have their signature notarized in from of a Notary at Large.  You can usually get a notary at your local bank for a small fee if not for free.

Good Luck.
