Writing helppp

My dream was to be an author since I was about seven years old, maybe younger. I've been told I was amazing, but inspiration is sooo hard to come by! Sometimes I'm ready to take up a whole different hobby. Could you tell me if it's a good idea to give it up, or if you could just give me some creative idea, a hint or a boost up?

Honesty would be best, thanks!

Love is the battery of life....

Hi,

Yes that is very common.  Inspiration doesn't come linearly (each minute at the same quantity) but more like a thunder....  Research concluded that inspiration comes when one is relaxed.  So here are some good sugestions: Do what you like.  Go to places you like (river side, forest, sea shore....).  Meet people that inspire you (people that "build" you mentally).  Read the books you like.  Eat your favorite foods.  Set your room in the way that you really like (old furniture ?).  Spend time doing some hard physical productive work (gardening, welding, carpenter.... ).  The sport you love.....  I get inspiration by walking in the woods collecting mushrooms..... Wine + laughing with good friends.  You'll have to find out what is best for you and follow it.  Don't give it up. simply keep on searching.... you'll find it.
Best regards,

As in any creative area it is very difficult to earn money from writing. You could pursue another career and write as a hobby or you could take on other forms of writing and wait until you get an idea. These could be journalism, technical writing, advertising copy writing. One of the best way to get ideas for a story is to talk to many people. Some have had exciting lives. Inspiration according to Thomas Edison is 90% perspiration. Keep at it as did Edison and I wish you a successful writing career.

"Be the change you wish to see in the world." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I've written many short stories over the years, and the best way I've found that works for me is to just start writing and see what happens.  I've ended up with complete stories practically writing themselves this way.

If this isn't your style, though, I would suggest that you start writing about a fantasy you have.  Perhaps life as a rockstar, or as a warrior of the ancient Celts, or as a Tibetan mystic.  Or try your hand at writing from an entirely different (than you) point of view to see where it leads you.  Sometimes, the best way to clear "writer's block" is to just start writing!

I think that once you start trying to look for creative ideas, you've already moved too far away from your creativity.  Stop trying, and just write.   You may be surprised.  Cool

Your problem is tipical writers block which only happens 9 out of 10 times. I love to write also and i know how difficult it is to inpire and be inspired. But what i like to do is start with a title. A title that catches the eye but also discribes what the writing piece is about without giving everything away. The one thing i want you to do more than anything is DONT GIVE UP if youve wanted this for so long just to give it up because of a rode block is crazy.
