Working from home

Aside from knowing how to run a business you will need a great deal of self-discipline so as not to be distracted. Remember that in a remote office you are not that accessible for questions, comments, etc. Therefore set up a room that you can lock from the inside and seclude yourself from all sorts of interferences. Make sure the room is well lit, air conditioned and heated, has all the facilities of an office, comfortable chairs and desks, sufficient electrical outlets for computers, printer, fax, etc.

What kind of business are you planning to start?  One thing you'll want to determine is if your business is conducive to running from your home.  Not only is the kind of business you want to start going to be a determining factor (online? consulting? will you have customers/clients in your home?), but the space you have in your home and whether it will accommodate a home office is as well.
