Working off the booze

Let's say I drunk. Let's also say I drunk too much. How do I stop being drunk so i can drive home safely (without endangering any body else on the road either of course)?

I know I can always take a cab or ask someone to drive me, but hypothetically, what can I do to become drunk no more? I heard coffee and rolling down the windows don't help. Is that true?

The best way is to sleep it off. No amount of coffee will allow you to immediately or shortly after regain all your senses. If you want to drink you will not be able to drive and if you want to drive do not drink. That is an absolute truth.

It takes the body one hour per ounce of liquore to clean it out.  If you had three shots, you are good to go in three hours after the last ounce.  Drink a glass of water between alcoholic drinks.  Alternating water and booze speeds up the process.

For me the best way is to stop drinking alcohol when you are feeling dizzy.
