Word 2003 Styles: Organizing, Moving and Controlling

I am frustrated by MS Word 2003 Formatting and Styles

I need to take a Word file research paper and format it according to APA style.
I found a template with APA styles: http://www.apastyle.info/freebies/wordtemplate.html

1. How do I move a number of Styles from one Word document to another.

2. How do I organize styles

3. How do I stop Word from adding new styles to my list
I hate that when I have a style (e.g. Subtitle) that then if I add italic to that then Word creates style Subtitle Italic,
- later subtitle italic bold
- later subtitle italic bold ariel
and then I end up with all that on my Styles menu and now I can't find anything.
