Woodburning stove installation in a large free standing open fireplace

I have a 6ft round open heath free standing fireplace with 6 ft hood that reduces down to a 2ft heavy gage steel round flue that is 21ft in height and what I would like to do is install a woodburning insert at one side of the open hearth and vent the insert up through the roof inside the 2ft existing flue. Can I install an insert as described and how do I need to do it?
