It's important to note, however, that it is possible to get pregnant before having the first period. A teenage girl who has not had her period should not rely on that to protect her from pregnancy.

Additionally, a woman who has had a baby and hasn't gotten her period yet can also get pregnant. She will likely ovulate before getting her first period.
