Wireless surveillance camera solution

I am looking for a wireless surveillance camera solution. It has to have the following features/abilities:

  • Small enough so I can disguise it or make it otherwise undetectable.
  • Being able to watch the video live over the web
  • Remotely control over the web
  • Automatically store video locally in a compressed digital format (e.g. mpeg4)
  • Not use any propriety protocols/components that require only special software to be used with (like some LinkSys and DLink wireless cameras which force you to only watch the video steam via their propriety ActiveX control)

I would love to have this as a boxed solution (without requiring additional hardware or even an external PC) but I assume that if something like this exists, it would be too pricy. So I can accept a solution that can be assembled from several components to fit the requirements above.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

It seems to me that this might be your idea: http://www.axis.com/products/cam_207mw/index.htm http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/vivotek-ip3133.html By the way : your question was so detailed and knowledegable that you surely are an expert on this subject (or at least read a lot) , so I am sure you could do an excellent job on finding the answers...

Thanks for the links, I will check them out.

And regarding my question, it was detailed because I know exactly what I want based on a research I already did on the subject. What I am looking for is the type of knowledge and personal experience that are usually harder to come by with simple web search. There is no substitution for an advice from someone who actually installed, used and faced all the little details of the sort of the solution I am looking for.

Regards,
- Daniel

We want to help you find the surveillance system that is right for you. But before you get started, there 3 important benefits, besides the fact our hidden cameras are hand crafted, that set our cameras apart from others.

We use only high powered 2.4 GHz transmitters that can send video signals up to three times further than other transmitters.
CCD (Charged Coupled Device) is the lens we use in our cameras. There are cheaper lenses on the market, but none of them produce the high quality images that CCD lenses do. CCD lenses are high resolution and highly sensetive to light, allowing them to record in outdoor and low-light conditions.

Now a word of Warning!
The FCC is aware of the situation and is conducting an ongoing investigation into the production and distribution of 1.2 GHz surveillance products. All of our hidden cameras are FCC approved 2.4 GHz.

Good luck!
