Windows installation CD

I just bought myself a laptop, and suddenly figured out I did not get A windows installation CD with it, just the license number. What should I do if I need to reinstall windows in case


of a malfunction??

A "System Restore" CD, or other such [similarly] titled CD, should have been provided with your laptop. Basically, you can boot from this CD to restore your software environment to the factory shipped state....

note: make sure to save/backup any data on your laptop -- including browser bookmarks/favorites, etc. -- before performing such an operation.

Yeah, I've noticed that as a trend; generating restore CDs directly from the system. I almost mentioned it in my earlier answer, but opted for brevity instead; glad you were able to locate the feature...

You should have got a set of recovery discs with the laptop....which means you can bring it back to its original settings...you don't need an installation cd...but do back up your files before you wipe the hard drive
