Winding a bobbin on a Janome Harmony??

I just bought a used Janome Harmony 2049 Sewing Machine w/o a manual. How do I keep the needle from moving up & down when I wind a bobbin?

The Singers I've had before had a knob in the center of the hand wheel that popped in, but my Janome doesn't have one.

Please help. Thanks, Connie

Connie, I had had Janome machines, but not the model you listed.  Some of their machines have a knob inside the hand wheel that turns, like you said.  Some of them just pull out and push in.  You might try that.  The one I have now stops the needle when I move the bobbin pin over to the bobbin stop.   You might also go to the Janome web site.  They might have a manual that you can download, or just look at on line.  Good luck--Janome's are great machines.  If you have a Janome dealer around you, you could ask them also.
