White moldy stuff growing on bamboo in freshwater fish tank.

Ok so, I have this freshwater fish tank and put in a bamboo stalk awhile ago. Both of my fish died previously, but were removed from the tank immediatly. But lately I see this white moldy stuff growing on my bamboo stalk. No fish live in the tank, only cleaning snails. The snails are not cleaning the moldy stuff off of the bamboo. In fact it seems that they avoid it! The moldy stuff is white on the outside but clear on the inside, and started to grow on the roots and rocks. I put more water cleaning stuff in to see if it was an illness but it didnt do anything. With the slightest movement of water the whole thing sways...it is quite disgusting! I removed the bamboo once and cleaned it off (the bamboo smelled terrible!!). I trimmed the bamboo and placed it back in the tank, but it happened again! It doesn't seem to grow on any of my other plants except my bamboo. The bamboo has not changed in color and is as green as it can be. Any ideas on how i can rid of it??

Wonder,  Throw the bamboo out.  It is diseased.  Buy new if you still want bamboo.

I don't know a little about everything, but I do know a lot about some things!

I used to raise tropical fish many years back, & I would not recommend putting bamboo into a fish tank, or anywhere under water for that matter. Bamboo grows ABOVE GROUND, not in under-water environments. I recommend buying special plants that grow in water, plants that are specific for aquaria. Check the internet & you'll get plenty of advice for aquarium plants. You can take a look at the link below. Good luck with your aquarium!!

Please get rid of the bamboo and use water plants. Bamboo has a milky fluid in the stalk anyway and is made to grow in soil or sandy conditions

Does no pets = no fish for lease?

For coverage For my appartment lease, it says no pets. If ever I buy a 180 and it falls through the floor does this mean I would not be covered as it says no pets in the appartment? Thanks! that did not allow 'pets' but have no problems with fish. I would ask them and if they say fish
