White hairy stuff in fish tank

i saw in my fish tank yesterday some white hairy things. this morning i noticed about 20 to 25 baby fish. but i only have one silver molly. sounds strange right. about a month or two ago i had two guppies in the same tank but they died within a couple of days. do you think the molly got pregnant from the guppies?

How long did you have the molly before you noticed the babies?

I don't know a little about everything, but I do know a lot about some things!

Hi, Auntiekim

Your molly had to be pregnant when you bought her & put her in the aquarium. As far as the hairy stuff is concerned, you can bring a sample of the water to your local fish dealer or pet shop for testing, but it sounds like this is the result of the molly giving birth. To be on the safe side, test  the water in case you've got some sort of fungus in the tank, which would probably kill all your fish. Hope this helps.

well, there are many possibilities, if the guppies were in fact molly babies, it has a slight chance of occurring, but i had the same thing happen with my long-tailed lizard, it had no male, got pregnant and layed eggs under the weirdest circumstances, so i have to say that is IS possible, or when u bought the molly it had already been mated and gotten pregnant.  Another option would be divine intervention, but that would be 1 in a trillion, so i really hope this helps.  Weird things happen.
