A very beautiful woman sat next to me on the train this morning, and I saw she was wearing a ring on the finger next to her little finger on her right hand. Is this the normal place for a wedding ring? I can't remember where people usually wear them.
The usual place depends on the culture and on the country.
In most Western countries the wedding ring is on the left hand, while the right can be used for the engagement ring.
Now, good luck.
In British, Commonwealth and American cultures, the wedding ring is traditionally worn on the left ring finger. I myself am a violinist and cannot wear rings on that finger so have always worn my rings on my right hand. I have known other musicians to wear them on necklaces round their necks. There must be other professions out there which would necessitate the removal of rings on the left hand, especially as they tend to be made of gold, a notoriously soft metal. Whilst suffering bouts of fluid retention or other medical conditions such as arthritis, still others may move rings to different fingers or necklaces. There are many other cultures who wear the ring on the right hand including european cultures.
