What's the healthiest way to eat? I always hear different answers....

Is it healthier to eat several small meals or 3 normal size meals in a day?

Often when we only have a few meals a day we get too hungry and overeat at meal time. You should make sure to eat at least every five hours to keep your metabolism going. If you eat small and healthy snacks between meals then you are less likely to overeat when it gets to meal time. You should also eat a bigger breakfast and lunch than dinner. Eating a large meal late at night is not healthy. I hope this helps.

Its much better to eat 5-6 small meals a day. You must wait 2 1/2-3 hours between meals. If you cheat and snack your metabolism clock resets and you will not digest the food in your stomach properly. In other words if you cheat you get fat. If you can go a couple of weeks eating small meals more often you will notice your metabolism has sped up remarkably. Also, your body becomes accustom to taking nutrients from the food and passes junk out. So, eating a fattening meal every so often will not be so terrible!

It's better to eat every 3 hours and after you eat, it's okay if you don't feel satiated. Drink a glass of water and see how you feel in 20 minutes. If you are still hungry, have an apple or pear, something with fiber within the hour. Then drink another glass of water. In a couple hours, eat again, but make it a small meal. There's a reason why your body feels FULL, because it is. Just eat enough to sustain you for the next couple of hours, because by making it a habit to eat every couple of hours, your body knows you will be feeding it again soon so it won't try to hold onto the food, absorb, and store it until it gets its next meal. Don't wait more than 4 or 5 hours to eat because when you do it, your body will store that as fat to sustain you until the next time you eat. By skipping meals, your body doesn't know when to expect food so it tends to want to store what you do eat, and you'll probably overdue it because you're so hungry. I always make sure I drink a glass of water before I chow down because it helps with allowing myself to not overeat. If you eat until you feel like you're full up to your throat. YOU ARE WAY OVEREATING. Make it a rule to have a glass of H20 BEFORE & AFTER a meal. By knowing that you will have to down a glass of water when you're done eating, you will make it a habit not to overeat and to leave some room for agua.

Eating 5-6 smaller meals a day is great.  Defintion: breakfast/snack/lunch/snack/dinner/snack...keeping your body fueled will keep it's "furnace" burning, enabling you to constantly be in a state of burning calories and it will keep your metabolism up.  It's hard to do and takes time to prepare, but worth it.  When you skip a meal, your body thinks it is being starved and will hold onto whatever you feed it next as fat...
