What's the fastest way to get over a cold and, if I can't, what's the best way to prevent ear pain if you have to fly with a cold / sinus issues?

to get over a cold:

- stop with dairy products

- take natural echineacea drops

- eat live garlic and oranges

to get over an ear pain fast

- attach garlic to the 2nd finger (after the pinky) on the leg correpsponding to the ear (right leg for right ear pain) over night. this works!! it is based on chinease medicine, the 2nd finger represents the ear and the garlic does wonders.. one night and the pain/infection will be much better

If you had a cold when you posted this question, I hope that you're over it by now.  But even if my answer isn't helpful now, it might be useful in the future.

Fitness Magazine recently recommended five fast remedies for a cold: zinc; chicken soup; ginseng; sleep; and treatment of your symptoms.  You can read the article here.

If you still have a cold or sinus problems when flying, you might try Earplanes, which are ear plugs that regulate the pressure in your ears.  You can find information in the Earplanes FAQ.
