There is only one thing I can definitely say in praise of Barak Obama. That is, that he "saved" us from the possibilty of Sarah Paylin becoming President for at least 4 more years. As disappointed as I am in Obama, I am absolutely TERRIFIED of Sarah Paylin. To me, she seems to embody the phrase, "It's my way or the highway." She seems the type NEVER to brook the slightest disagreement of anyone...although she might enjoy a little debating. But in the end..........(shudder!) She reminds me very much of the character in the sci-fi TV series, "V"....named "Diana"! (Double shudder!)
As for Obama himself -- well, I sure could wish for a better President! He won the election based on the idea too many people had that he was a Moderate. Now he shows his true colours, (green, perhaps?) Yes, GREEN is the optimim word here. He obviously wants money, as well as power, as much as any other corrupt Washington DC official. It's very sad -- as a minority member, one would think he had COMPASSION for the people who relied on the programs you mention, for help they desperately need. But -- like the Pharaoh in the Exodus, it seems -- Obama has "hardened his heart"....and doesn't seem to care about more and more of his FELLOW Americans!!!!!!! : (
The answer? Well, we might have to suffer until 2012 -- unless, of course, Obama is IMPEACHED! (which is ALWAYS a possibility! : ) ....and Joe Biden, (one of the POOREST members of Congress before becoming VP -- check out his biography on Wikipedia.com), becomes President. MAYBE Biden will care, where Obama obviously has proved himself not to care. However, I ALSO have what I consider an even BETTER idea, than even Joe Biden becoming President.
And that is....PUT MORE MONEY IN THE POCKETS OF AMERICANS WHO CARE ABOUT THEIR LESS-FORTUNATE COUNTRYMEN, SO THAT MORE CAN BE GIVEN, PRIVATELY, TO CHARITY. And....HOW can this be done? Well, it may seem a strange thing to say.....but if a LIBERTARIAN, (such as RON PAUL, MD, a senator from Texas...website: www.CampaignForLiberty.com) was elected, more Americans would DEFINITELY have more money in their pockets -- and part of that money they could easily donate to their favourite charities! Libertarians, it's true, DON'Tbelieve in giving much, (if any) federal, tax-payer money to social causes, like Democrats purportedly say they want to. BUT NOW WE HAVE A DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT, BARAK OBAMA, WHO IS CUTTING BACK ON SOCIAL PROGRAMS PEOPLE NEED! If the Libertarians come into power, taxes will be CUT -- so American taxpayers will have more money to give to the charities of their choice! : ) RON PAUL EVEN WANTS TO GO SO FAR AS TO....A B O L I S H....T H E....I.R.S.! Now, THAT will put a LOT more money into the pockets of the so-called "Average American"! (I say "so-called", because NO-ONE is 'average', everyone is an individual! Besides which, the US Constitution, itself, even says that "All Men (and presumably women, too), Are Created EQUAL!" (Which is obviously something our esteemed President and Congress-people seem, CONSTANTLY, to forget!) Anyway, Dr. Paul would also ABOLISH immigration quotas to the US -- so that any human being, from anywhere, would have an equal chance of immigrating to the USA & becoming a citizen! (Quotas are now slanted to favour those of White European descent.) AND Dr. Paul favours allowing Americans to once more legally gamble/game at internet casinos! (And pay money from winnings there in taxes, of course. MUCH fairer, (and less nerve-wracking!), than figuring out how much to "fairly" pay the IRS! And he ALSO wants to investigate "The Creature from Jekyll Island"....otherwise known as the Federal Reserve! (The Fed, it seems, has metamorpisized into something it was NEVER supposed to become! See the BOOK, 'The Creature From Jekyll Island", by G. Edward Griffin, for....alll the frightening.....details!)
Obviously, MY candidate in 2008 was Dr. Ron Paul, MD. However, I ALSO favoured SENATOR MIKE GRAVEL. (www.MikeGravel.US) Senator Gravel -- who was THE major force in putting the Alaska Pipeline into use, and who was an active and searching member of the Senate Watergate Committee -- would have, if elected President -- SHARED POWER WITH ALL THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, THROUGH FREQUENT REFERENDUMS AND PLEBICITES. The motto on his current website, above, in fact, is, "LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE!"
These two gentlemen were my personal "dream team" in 2008. I liked, (and like!), them both SO much, I really didn't care which became President, and which VP. To me, they were THE candidates who wanted only to truly REPRESENT the people of the US. They wanted, (and want!), "we. the people" to make the FINAL decisons...on EVERYTHING! In a truly gentlemanly and humble manner, they realized, (and still realize!), the truth of Will Rogers words, spoken so long ago, that he "wanted to go down to Washington DC, and SEE HOW OUR 'HIRED HELP' WERE DOING. For Mike Gravel and Ron Paul, any power they EARNED from the people of the USA would NOT corrupt! And I'm sure they'd not let power corrupt any of their staffs, either! THESE were the people we should have elected in 2008. And these ARE the people we should help elect in 2012!!!!!! : ) : )
At any rate, I am very disappointed in Barak Obama -- and your information on his present cutting of programs for people in need, has added greatly to this disappointment. Hopefully -- if he IS impeached -- President Joe Biden will be more compassionate towards those in need....and more fulfulling, generally, of the hopes of those who elected him into office. No matter what else happens, however, remember that 2012 is coming upon us FAST. If Mike Gravel, Dr. Ron Paul, or even Joe Biden become President and/or V.P., we are almost CERTAIN to have more compassion and freedom in this country than we do now under (the thumb of!) Barak Obama, (who LIED to the American people during his campaign!), and the (scurvy?) members of his staff!
Years and years ago, I read an article entitled, "The Only Way Out", in the Reader's Digest. It was about a man trying to escape from East Berlin. Since that day, I've always believed there HAS to be at least ONE way out of any bad situation. With Dr. Ron Paul, Senator Mike Gravel....and perhaps, even Joe Biden -- we have two ways out, Or maybe even three! : ) : ) : )
