I'm using the beta version of the soon-to-be-released Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon). I updated my system yesterday and saw that version 0.6 of compiz-fusion was installed. I was curious to see what's new in this version but I couldn't find anything new in how it works or in the settings application. I found the release notes and now I'm even more confused: it says, for example, that transparency support for the cube plugin is new, but it's been there for months.
Anyone knows what's really new in version 0.6?
Hey there! I was really surprised, too. I thought "What the hell, how to change the number of gnome workspaces? There are just 2!"
I searched a little bit and found out that you need to install the package called "compizconfig-settings-manager". Then you go to " System -> Preferences -> Advanced Desktop Effects Settings". There you are! You can configure whatever you want Compiz Fusion to do. Really great!

You're confusing Compiz and Compiz-Fusion. Compiz-Fusion is what you see on the screen, all the effects, and that's still in version 0.52. Compiz is the infrastructure on which CF is built, and that's already in version 0.6. When the next version of CF is released you'll see new effects.
