Love is the battery of life....

Hi,

Yes you can.  All you need is a strong will, have a normal plan and be consistent.  That means: Decide that you start right now.  From this minute you eat only healthy food, normal quantities.  No food inbetween mails.  Start doing sport. That won't be easy, so start by walking around your block.... and increase it daily.  No sweets, no candies, no sweet drinks (only water), only minimum bread (and diet). Thin meat. Many veggies, only 2 fruits a day.  Strong will, consistency, and you see wonders.  Don't be drastic, you don't need 20 pounds in one week..... better go down only one pound a week but every week for many weeks....   that will enable your body to get used to your new life style & diet.   Follow it and you reach your goal.
Best regards,

It's possible, but why do it?

I don't hold much stock in "doing it yourself" where clearly the problem goes deeper than mere pounds. I say get all the help you can get, and with all due respect, don't use diets people give you online without even bothering to know you a little better.

Consult a dietitian, get acquainted with some sort of a trainer or coach, and I wouldn't scorn at some therapy as well. Regardless of your weight, these people should be trained professionals, and should be able to help you make a better life for yourself.

Love is the battery of life....

Hi Diana,

Don't want to open an arguement but the question was clear ".... can I lose (weight) on my own ?"....  the answer can be "yes, but.... " or "no, but....".   Please don't make a good answer as a non-proffesional one.  She can do it, and if she adopts a healthy style of life (healthy diet / food, normal quantities, sport, etc ...) she will no doubte get results.  True, she should find what is the core problem and treat it, but it was not her quetion.

As you can gather looking at my profile, I actually know big people (and actually think they're lovely), and it is my experience that it's close to impossible. People know all the things they should be doing, and can cite diets by heart, but actually sticking to a regime and maintaining results is impossible.

There's more to will power when talking of giving up literally half of who and what you are, and I wouldn't embark on another journey that would make me feel bad about myself.

Hi Suzan,

I used to smoke 2.5 packages of cigarets a day and stopped smoking.... I changed my diet drastically (due to some medical reasons) without too much problem.....  all I needed was a strong will.  So I don't buy those excuses......  He who wants will !.

I believe you can do it on your own.  I know how hard it can be, I was a heart attack waiting to happen.  Then the best thing happened to me, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.  Now I know this should be the worst, but it was the catalyst for me to put into action a change in diet and exercise.

The hardest thing is starting, I don't care what anybody says, with no results you will lose faith that you can do it.

Remember no matter what anybody says the formula for weight loss is really simple.  Calories in must be less than Calories out.  If this is the case you will slowly lose weight and this is the best method.

If you would like any tips I have created a Weight Loss website that will hopefully help you.

When you have a lot of weight to lose, it's always best to seek professional advice, your doctor will be glad to help you if you tell them that you have decided that you want to lose weight.  Starting with a sensible eating programme and gradually increasing your level of physical activity is a good idea, but you sould make sure that you are healthy enough to do so first.

I wouldn't just pick up a diet online, but some sensible weight loss advice is a good idea, and maybe look for a support forum where you can talk to others who are also trying to lose weight.
