Weight gain in pregnancy

How much weight should a typical woman gain by the beginning of the second trimester of pregnancy?  (I have a friend who's worried that she's not gaining enough.)

It differs for each woman, but generally women don't gain very much in the first trimester, especially if they suffer from bad morning sickness. As long as she hasn't lost more than a pound or two, she's probably OK.

Good luck,
Rachel
