Weekend weight loss camp as a Christmas Present--Nice or Offensive?

One of my closest female friends has been struggling to lose weight for a while now. She hasmentioned several times that she has been looking into a weekend weight loss getaway but cannot afford it. Some friends and I were thinking of going in on a weekend package for her as a Christmas present. She said she wanted to go, but is it still offensive to give a girl a weight loss package? Do you think she will be upset? Has anyone tried out any weight loss camps and/or programs that they can recommend?

I think its a lovely thought and shows that you really care about your friend. This is an extremely sensitive subject though and I can see why you'd be worried about her getting upset. How about getting a spa gift certificate that can be used towards weight loss or any number of other things that could be pampering. Also, from a weight loss support perspective, I think getting her a personal trainer for a few months may actually cost the same and help her a lot more. If you're super-close to her why not talk to her and let her choose..

I that that maybe a more long term weight loss present would be better.  For sure the camp would be fun and might help a little, but don't you think that after the weekend she would return to old habits?  I don't think this is offensive for one reason: that she as reached out and asked you for help.  You can write in a card that all you want is for her to be happy.  Of course you'd love her any way she was, but you wanted to give her something she's been wanting.  I think it's a really nice idea.

Have you and your friends save your money. If your friend really wants to lose the weight badly enough she would find a way to afford going to the camp.  Maybe she says that to you to make you think she wants to lose the weight rather than really being serious about it.  Because.....if you really want to lose weight you do not have to go to a camp to lose it.  Again, losing weight and keeping it off are two different things.  Check it out before you and your friends pay her way into gaining more weight when she comes home.

Every story has an end but in life, every end is just a new beginning.

I think if this is what an individual asks for, it's ok. Otherwise, it's just offensive.

Andyp, this is the most buzz word in this era. There are many such programs available throughout the net, but it's tough to find out the most authenticate ones. Fortunately, I have come across a program which is very genuine and very popular. You can look for programs like lose fast weight , tips to get sexy body ,etc.

You can go through the site of Dr. Leslie Seppinni who is a renowned doctor and is an excellent fitness counselor and trainer. She says that gaining weight may lead to unhappy relationship even so she takes care of her every client exclusively. In all her work Dr. Leslie utilizes her Excuse Free Living philosophy, with its emphasis on “The 4 C’s: Curiosity, Conviction, Courage and Commitment” as her cornerstone.
