When it comes to wedding photography, do you prefer photojournalistic or traditional style?
I would prefer photojournalistic photography. Some other styles that have come out in the last few years are: 1. Contemporary wedding photography: This kind of photography style is inspired by editorial fashion photography as used in magazines like Vogue or Vanity Fair. With this style the photographer is very much in control of what he's shooting. He'll direct you, telling you how to pose as he's shooting, much like in a studio. 2. Black and white wedding photography 3. Informal Wedding Photography: This style of photography is actually a cross between photojounalistic and traditional wedding photography. A combination of styles will net your best effect. Then you can get the groups of family members all together at the weddings, as well as capturing the really great moments throughout the evening.
I am a wedding photographer, and I shoot over 90% photojournalistically. I offer some posed shots (groups, portraits), but after that I shoot "what happens".
I avoid the cute-sy posed shots of 1980 (father of the bride with his pockets inside out, grabbing the coat tails of a runaway groom....etc).
People want to remember what happened on their wedding day. Surprisingly, most people have little recollection of what went on, due to the stress and fast-paced activities of the day. I've had so many brides look through the finished album and gasp at the memories she didn't realize she had.
I try to capture the smaller details...the flower girl gnawing on a strawberry, the tears of the bride's mother as she watches her girl get married, she shoes that were carefully selected for that day...those are the memories people want.
Ultimately, it's up to the couple to decide what's best for them.
I started as a photojournalist and then shot my first wedding 27 years ago. I did not know there was any other style other than photojournalistic. My wife and I do take the Grandma shots (traditional) but try to shoot the rest photojournalistic.
id like to do both. theres no reason that you cant. im more of a field photographer, shooting factories, nature, rusty gate valves , the important thing is your imagination, thinking ahead, anticipation. thats the key..
I like mixture of both: photojournalistic or traditional style. The excellent source in helping to plan the wedding: tips for finding a photographic style for your event and helps to better understand what each professional does in their own special fields, and why they charge the way that they do.
I would like photojournalistic style photography a good wedding photographer need to offer a range to styles throughout the day - ranging from reportage to fine art.

I really like photo, I like to have a lot of traditional taken after the ceremony and the more journalistic during the vows and the wedding reception.
