Yes.

Actually, there are off-the-shelf ecommerce templates that come with ASP.net and Visual Studio.

Sophisticated sites like Amazon have several additional features, depending on your products and budget. They 1) show order history, 2) integrated with UPS and FedEx for shipping 3) integrate with credit card/Paypal services.

Another issue is the back end. Microsoft SQL? MySQL? Oracle?

Most web hosting services offer MySQL. Others charge an extra $20/month for Microsoft or Oracle.
