It is most likely that you have visited and seen some of the web 2.0 websites such as youtube, myspace, linkedin etc… wait Yedda is also web 2… The basic concepts: 1) Allow users to create the website content. 2) Communities – provide the platform for a variety of deferent communities that share the same interest (even if it’s very peculiar subject such as “pirate custom” or “lovebird breeding”). 3) Tagging – provide the most popular key words that are currently used in this web site, and set their size base on their rating. 4) Long tail – revenue can be accumulated from lots of small profit units (communities). I probable missed lots of other features, but I tried to point out the most noticeable ones.

The Wikipedia entry offers a fairly salient explanation of the phenomenon; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0

29 thumbs up

Web 2.0 is all about social interactions online.  From comments, to blogs, to social networks of all sizes web 2.0 means interacting not just passively surfing and consuming information.

Here's an article I have bookmarked for reference on web 2.0, which I think presents a great vision of where the future development of the web is going.

It's on Richard Rosenblatt, the guy who sold Myspace to Fox and has since moved on the build a new company.
