Weaving Palmetto leaves

I saw an old movie “The New Adventures of Flipper” If you’ve seen it too you will understand my question. Does anyone know how to weave palmetto like that? I’d Love to learn how to make a fish trap like that one! Does anyone know where I can find any information on it? Google is of no help.
