Wearing safety belts incorrectly

On my way to work this morning I noticed that the woman driving the car next to mine was wearing her safety belt incorrectly: she placed the shoulder strap under her armpit. I think it's probably dangerous, but I searched the web and I couldn't find an explanation why it is. What's going to happen to her in an accident?

I'm not sure if you're right. I couldn't find anything online either, but I think in a case of a severe accident it can hurt the ribs which are located exactly under the arm pit.
