Wearing safety belts incorrectly

On my way to work this morning I noticed that the woman driving the car next to mine was wearing her safety belt incorrectly: she placed the shoulder strap under her armpit. I think it's probably dangerous, but I searched the web and I couldn't find an explanation why it is. What's going to happen to her in an accident?

I'm not sure if you're right. I couldn't find anything online either, but I think in a case of a severe accident it can hurt the ribs which are located exactly under the arm pit.

There are horrible little people here. Watch out!

You know what bugs me the most......when seatbelts lock up while I'm driving.  I'll go to move or move around and the damn thing is locked on me.  Help!!  I can't move or breathe.....I'm trapped.  This often irritates me so I'll either take it off, throw it behind my neck and back so the lap belt still holds me or I will tie the shoulder harness around my neck a few times.....depending on my mood.  Yeah, I guess I could get killed or seriously hurt if I was in an accident, but atleast my seat-belt would be comfortable!
