Water heater pressure

What can happen if the water pressure is too high going into a gas water heater? I heard that it's not supposed to be over 50 pounds of pressure. My heater is leaking from the hot side outlet and the red plastic has broken apart. Could this be from high water pressure

If you want it done and done right the first time do it yourself

i wouldnt have any hot water heater preasure mor than 50 pounds the average is usually between 40-45 unless it is comercial equiptment, it may be leaking from the hot water side if the unit is warn the average life of a hotwater heater is 6-7 years

home depot has a recirculating pump that easily fits on the water heater and has clear instructions on installation and use. i highly suggest it for quick hot water at lower temperature. my bathroom ceiling heater is quite in still good working condition
