Water in the Basement

I have pooling of water in the basement when it rains. The sub pump works and I have a old french drain near the pooling of water. The small pond is about 2 feet wide by 1 and 1/2 ft, about an inch in depth. This is an old house built in the 1940's. What can I do to fix the water pooling. bufeustace@aol.com

If I can't do it right I won't do it

the drains around the house might be clogged and need replaced. the tile as well as the gravel around the tile should be replaced, when the tile gets clogged or broken and the gravel becomes dirtbound it will let water leak in.

OT-

Good answer. Are you really Eric S. in disguise?

OT is correct. Fix the drains first. And make sure that they  slope in the direction that you want the water to flow and that the end of the drain is and will remain unobstructed.
