Waking up in the middle of the night

Recently, I wake up at least a couple of times every night. No nightmares, no nothing. I eat well, exercise and don't use any kind of medications Although daily schedule is a bit tight these days. Any tips?

As we age, many hormones decrease.  One hormone that strongly influences the sleep/wake cycle is

melatonin.  As melatonin decreases with age, sleep becomes difficult for many (most?) people.  In the US, melatonin supplements are available in most places that sell vitamins.  There are two-phase tablets available now that release an initial burst of melatonin followed by a gradual tail.  This most resembles your natural melatonin concentration through the night.  If you're over 40 and having trouble sleeping, melatonin supplementation may help.

I suppose this happens to everyone at one time or another. I know it does to me on occassion.  I can usually tie it to a hectic schedule which really translates to ... stress.  My recommendation is that you take an hour or two before bed time and put the emensities of life aside by reading a novel or some such activity that takes your mind off of stressful things. There will be time enough tomorrow to worry. Personally, I read the Bible every evening just before bed. I figure I do what I can do during the day but when the day is done I leave it in God's hands.  I'm not trying to press religion on you, just telling you what works well for me. Perhaps something similar will work for you too

I know if my bed's not comfortable, I have trouble sleeping. I suggest a thick mattress pad or a new bed all together.
