I am in California. If I send a telephone as a gift to someone in Alberta Calgary Canada, will they be able to use it there? Are the voltages the same as the US? Also, are the phone jacks the same as the US?

Where will the service come from? Calif or Canada? If you put service on it then the number will be a CA number
I think I was not clear enough. I was not talking about a cell phone. I was talking about a home phone. I purchased a GE picture telephone, but did not know if my friend could used it in Calgary, Canada.
