Are simple, visual icons a good way to focus on a product or service a company may offer?
Off course , If you take an airport for an example . It's filled with a variety of symbols and signs which turn to a wide crowd of different language speakers. I think that you can find your way in any foreign airport in the world. Think about it the more symbols you add the more people will understand what you are selling or offering. Even if you are in a homogeneous environment there are still tourists foreigners and some people who don't have the time or ability to read words . A sign transfers a lots of information in a short time then words.
Most webmasters will say yes, simple icons are a good way to add value to a product or service link. I say don't use too many icons, because I like to keep my html characters to a absolute minimum for fast loading pages. If you do use icons, make sure to put them through an
