Visiting Scotland

I'd like to travel through Scotland for a couple of weeks.  Where would you recommend that I visit?  What should I know before I go?

Edinburgh is a Great place to visit of course, but there are some nice attractions outside  the city such as the Craigmillar castle. Further to the north the Islands are very recommended to visit, and the coastal cliffs are also a magnificent landscape to see. Just choose an Island and go there. In Orkeny Islands you can find stone pillars very similar to the stone henge on the mainland.

I'd be happy to give some more tips if you just specify what are you interested in.

Everything you mentioned sounds good!  I like castles and ancient monuments, and I also enjoy breathtaking scenery.  So I will look into Craigmillar castle and Orkney.

Is there one island in the north that you think is best of all?

If your up to it I would advise a cycling trip , I did it a couple of years back it was great I just stopped at random towns and asked for a place to stay lots of people were very friendly , you can also take a tent as well. The sights are astonishing the air is great and you don't have to be that fit to do it.  Try to avoid the rainy season it is a bit of a problem.

There is a whisky trail in the north which is the highlands (around keith I think) and you can stay at some of the distilleries like chivas and tour around a bunch of other distilleries (eg glenfiddich, etc).  Other great place is Edinburgh, go to Valvonna and Crolla if you like italian...

Here is a

website with some places that are recommended to visit in Scotland.  However, I highly recommend getting a Lonely Planet book and highlighting what looks interesting to you.  I know the Edinburgh is supposed to be amazing and beautiful.

What comes around goes around.

You can check out the link below.

It's Scotland's national tourism site so it's extremely comprehensive.

Have a great trip!
