Visiting 4000 Islands in Laos

Starting from mid October till February or even march is the best time. In any other time you are taking a "risk" of spending your time hiding from the monsoon showers. 

I read you reply to "lushan" and I would like your advice. I'm planning on going to the 4000 islands sometime between August to October. I know it's probably the worst time to do so but I don't have another vacation. I was told some of the roads might be blocked and you can get stuck, is that true? would you recommend not to go there in this weather or is it better to visit there in pour conditions then non at all?
