I am looking for any information on a vintage Atlas sewing machine. It is Black in color, very pretty. The only numbers on the machine is T195089. This is stamped in the metal base on the front underside of the machine. The motor is made by Belgelcor Universal motors. Also stamped on the motor is Charelo. The machine seems to be a high shank machine. The machine is an early zig zag. Nothing fancy. I'd like to get the age and origine of the machine, also an instruction manual would be lovely. Thanks for any help anyone can supply

Its me again,
As for the age you may check Sear's history. They changed the Atlas name to Craftsman about the same time they droped Robuck from there name
Hi,
I don't know much about sewing machines, but I know Sears used the name Atlas on there metal working machines before they started using the name Craftsman.
The latest answer was helpful, as it sent me off on a renewed search. Thanks You for that.
The Atlas sewing machine company was established in 1955. Their machines were branded machines built by Brother. The Pink Atlas is the one that is most known.
Atlas files bankrupt in 1962. So there were few machines sold under that brand. The black Atlas must have been sold just about the time that the company went backrupt. So I think that I have a very rare machine indeed. I'd still like to have a copy of the manual and of course any other information about the machine.
Should I gather any more information about the black Atlas, I'll post it.
Thanks Everyone
