Video freezes up

Whenever I try to watch a video on youtube or any video website, the picture and sound freeze up every few seconds, for up to 5 or 10 seconds. I have XP.

Could be a number of problems - it's hard to tell without more specifics - but my first guess is that your Internet connection can't keep up with the video data stream, so the player has to pause occasionally and wait while more data is buffered; then it can continue playing.

I think you hit the head on the nail for my problem.  I'm sure you are right, my Broadband cannot keep up with the video stream. That's what I was afraid of. I know my little internet company's Broadband is not like the normal city people's internet.  We live in a rural area.  I wish there was a way to tweak it. The best would be Satellite.  Thank you for your answer.

I know what you mean... it was 1 month ago we upgraded to high-speed (384K) from dial-up (painfully slow).  Satellite's good; I know quite a few who use it and like it, although it is susceptible to "rain fade" -- poor service due to rain or heavy cloud cover that interferes with the relatively weak satellite signal.  Before you install satellite, check for line-of-sight wireless service in your area.  We can't get DSL at our house, and opted to use a service that mounted an antenna on our rooftop within direct view of the local small-town water tower, where an antenna has been installed.  This type of service (depending on the individual company) may be more dependable than satellite.
