If you're a loyal VZ customer, then it may be a good value. However, for someone who isn't, it may be very costly for very little reason.
Personally, I can use my iPhone via WiFi and use Skype if the network goes down. Alternatively, if you Jailbreak the iPhone and utilize PdaNet to use AT&T's 3G network for the Web.
It really comes down to your loyality, tech savviness and need for such all-in-one packages.
