I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

With all the problems that need to be solved right here on our planet, I for one think their priorities are way off base.

Truely knowing one is to become one.

Nope. Suppose its in the Catholic Church interest to ponder the possibilities of potentially new souls (Alien or not) to convert.

There is nothing in the Catholic faith that says there isn't life elsewhere in the universe. However I do not see a need for a conference at this time.

There's nothing new under the sun.

Everyone else is starting to think the planet is screwed and they're looking for a way out... the Pope was bound to catch up eventually.  Lot's of people have their eye on Antarctica as once the polar ice caps are gone it will probably be the only uncooked place people can live.  There is a theory that the island of Atlantis is under there owing to the large harbour with pillars at the mouth which is visible on satellite photos of the landmass beneath the ice pack which is not unlike Platos descriptions of Atlantis and its harbour.  Maybe it did sink into the sea and pop back up at the south pole last time the planet had pole reversal or some major tectonic action.  As for the church... I think they are pondering the possibility of acknowledging the existence of extra terrestrials.
