Why is VATICAN: The Board Game a good game to play instead of other games? I just need to know because VATICAN: The Board Game sounds good.
I don't have an answer for you, Crystal C., but I, too, am watching this one with interest. Wonder if there are various versions of the game, y'know, Vaticans I and II?

As the author of Vatican the boardgame I have an obvious favorable bias but I do believe that I can honestly answer the question about why Vatican is a good game to play. Firstly, the game is the only one that effectively simulates a papal election. Players take the role of a cardinal (they play with a really cute cardinal game piece). The winner becomes pope. Secondly, I have designed the game to prevent anyone from emerging a clear winner until the very end. I will not reveal how I did this but suffice it to say that I did a deep study of game theory before designing the game. The result is that the game remains exciting in that unlike monopoly there is no foregone conclusion. In playing monopoly, I find that more often than not the winner is known (the player with the most money and property) long before the game drags to its inevitable conclusion.
So fun to play-I think so. Exciting-that is the way I designed it-Informative-certainly if you want to learn something about how a pope is selected or anything about the church. I hope that this has been helpful. By the way, there is something else really unique about Vatican-e-cards. These are cards that only exist on our website www.vaticanboardgame.com and fit into the actual card piles. The idea here is to update the content. I am the first game designer in the world to create e-cards. Just download them and print them out-they are numbered to fit into the card piles.
I hope that this has been helpful.
