Urgent Please...I need info about Service Center

Ok i just bought a celphone from a friend and i was messing around with it and aparently changed the service center. It is now asking for the service number. What should i do? My phone is now not sending messages but it does recieve and allows me to call people. Do you think that the fact i dont have a service center i am not allowed to send messages Thanks
