I have worked for a company for some 20 years, although I had a rather steller career there I feel like I have been unjustly terminated from my employment.
This whole situation started some 15 months ago (April of 2007) During this time I was going thru a divorce I was looking for a place to stay and my recorces were limited due to the fact that I was paying child support. I was approaced by my manager whom said I could stay at her home. I was soon to find out this was a terrible mistake and I left there in less than a month.
Over the next year I was getting phone calls to the point that it was very upseting, some of the phone calls this manager of mine was even threating her life.
I always wanted to handle this situation myself and never wanted to get my job involved, however after a employee of mine brought it to my attention that this manager had tried to hurt herself I felt like it was time to get my boss involved.
I then talk to him about this matter when he came into my restaurant, which at that time he said I should document the matter and fax it off to the employee reporting hotline......I was then contacted by a investigater whom asked me several questions, including have we went out with eachother, which we had.
The investigater did not talk to any of my employees who all know how many phone calls I have gotten from this manager, and knows she has harrassed over this past year.
The following week I was termed for fraterzation, but this manager continues to work for this company.
I feel it was the right thing to do, not only as this managers boss, but just as a human being, to let someone know she was trying to hurt herself.
My question is......do you think I have a case for unjust termination? I feel this is gender discrimination because of the fact that if I was termed for fraterzation should she not be also?
